BEHIND EVERY CAN
The Ingredients
Tru is made with just seven ingredients. Every one is there for a reason. No fillers, no preservatives, no artificial anything.
Carbonated Water
The foundation of every can, filtered through reverse osmosis for purity.
Organic Apple Juice Concentrate
Real fruit juice that delivers a crisp, natural sweetness and the base of Tru's fruit forward flavor profile.
Organic Lemon Juice Concentrate
A bright citrus finish that adds depth and acts as a natural preservative.
Organic Flavors
Bold, true-to-fruit flavor without synthetic compounds or artificial extracts.
Organic Stevia Extract
A zero calorie, zero glycemic natural sweetener derived from the stevia leaf.
Organic Monk Fruit Extract
A smooth, clean finishing sweetener with no bitter aftertaste. Combined with stevia to create a balanced sweetness without any sugar alcohols or artificial sweeteners. That's it. Nothing else goes into the can.
Organic Caffeine (Energizing only)
70mg of clean, organic caffeine from Green Coffee Bean Extract per can, roughly the equivalent of one espresso shot. No synthetic caffeine, no jitters, no crash.
Magnesium Glycinate (Calming only)
42mg of the most bioavailable and stomach-gentle form of magnesium. The form most recommended by dietitians for relaxation and sleep. More expensive to source than magnesium citrate or oxide, which is why most brands don't use it.
The Process
Every can of Tru follows the same precise process from start to finish. Every batch is held to the same standard. If it doesn't meet it, it doesn't leave the facility.
Step 1: Water Purification
A great beverage starts with high quality water. Our manufacturing partner uses reverse osmosis filtration to remove impurities and dissolved solids, producing a clean, neutral base that lets the flavor and function of every ingredient come through without interference.
Step 2: Ingredient Blending
All seven ingredients are measured to exact specifications and blended together. Organic apple juice, organic lemon juice, organic flavors, the functional ingredient (70mg of organic caffeine from green coffee bean extract for Energizing, or 42mg of magnesium glycinate for Calming), and organic stevia and monk fruit for a clean, balanced sweetness with zero added sugar. Every batch is tested for consistency before moving to the next step.
Step 3: Filling the Can
The blended liquid is transferred to the canning line where it is carbonated to the exact level that gives Tru its signature light fizz. The beverage is then filled into BPA-free aluminum cans at high speed under sanitary conditions. The fill level is monitored continuously to ensure every can contains the same precise volume of liquid.
Step 4: Capping the Cans
Immediately after filling, each can is seamed shut with an aluminum lid in a process that takes a fraction of a second. The seal is airtight, locking in carbonation, freshness, and flavor. Seam integrity is checked throughout production to ensure no can leaves the line with a compromised seal.
Step 5: Tunnel Pasteurization
This is the most critical step and it is the reason Tru contains no artificial preservatives. Once sealed, every can passes through a tunnel pasteurizer for approximately 90 minutes. Inside the tunnel, cans are gradually heated by hot water showers until the liquid reaches 154 degrees Fahrenheit, which is held for a minimum of 11 minutes. This is known as the "kill step," the precise temperature and duration required to eliminate harmful microorganisms and ensure the beverage is shelf stable and safe for consumption. After the kill step, the cans are gradually cooled back to ambient temperature. This gentle, gradual process preserves flavor integrity, maintains carbonation levels, and protects the nutritional profile of the ingredients. Tunnel pasteurization is what allows Tru to use a clean, seven-ingredient formula with no sodium benzoate, no potassium sorbate, and no chemical preservatives of any kind. Heat does the work that chemicals do in other beverages.
Step 6: Traying and Shrink Wrapping
After pasteurization, cans are automatically organized into trays and sent through a heat tunnel where plastic shrink wrap is applied and sealed tightly around each pack. This creates the finished retail-ready 12-pack that you see on shelves and receive at your door. The shrink wrap protects the cans during shipping and ensures the product arrives in the same condition it left the facility.
Step 7: Palletizing and Distribution
Finished packs are stacked onto pallets, wrapped for stability, and loaded onto trucks. From our manufacturing partner's facility in Worcester, Massachusetts, Tru is shipped to distribution centers and fulfillment warehouses across the country. Whether you order from our website, Amazon, or pick up a can at a store near you, every can traveled the same path from our production line to your hands. Seven steps. Seven ingredients. Zero shortcuts. That is how Tru is made.
The Facility
Two Massachusetts locations. One shared standard. From our headquarters in Natick to our manufacturing partner in Worcester, every can of Tru is developed, produced, and shipped from the heart of New England.
Headquarters
Tru is proudly headquartered in Natick, Massachusetts.
Production Partner
Tru is produced in Worcester, Massachusetts by a fourth generation, family owned manufacturer that has been crafting beverages since 1882. Over 140 years of expertise in one facility. Our manufacturing partner is the largest independent bottler in the United States. They produce beverages for some of the most recognized brands in the country, and they produce Tru with the same precision and care.

Why This Partner
We chose this manufacturer because their values align with ours. Integrity over shortcuts. A family business partnering with a small business to make something worth trusting and built to last.
The Certifications
Every certification Tru carries is third-party verified. We don't self-certify and we don't make claims we can't back up. Where a formal certification does not exist, like keto friendly, our nutritional profile speaks for itself.
Certified Vegan
Verified by an independent certification body to contain no animal products or animal-derived ingredients.
Certified Gluten Free
Tested and verified to meet strict gluten-free standards, safe for individuals with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity.
Certified OU Kosher
Certified by the Orthodox Union, one of the most widely recognized kosher certification organizations in the world.
USDA Organic (Energizing line)
Every ingredient is certified organic by the United States Department of Agriculture. Over 91% of energy drinks on the market are not organic. Tru is one of the few that is.
Keto Friendly
With just 1g of carbohydrates and 1g of sugar per can, Tru fits within ketogenic dietary guidelines.
The Standard
What we leave out matters just as much as what we put in.
No Sugar Alcohols
Tru contains no erythritol, no sorbitol, no xylitol, and no maltitol. Sugar alcohols are commonly used in "zero sugar" and "natural" beverages because they are inexpensive and technically not classified as artificial sweeteners. But they are known to cause digestive discomfort including bloating, gas, and stomach cramping, especially in sensitive individuals. Recent studies have also raised questions about erythritol's association with cardiovascular risk. Many brands in the functional beverage space, including some marketed as healthy alternatives, rely heavily on erythritol as their primary sweetener. Tru uses organic stevia and organic monk fruit instead. Both are plant derived, both have low glycemic impact, and neither carries the digestive side effects associated with sugar alcohols.
No Artificial Sweeteners
Tru contains no sucralose, no aspartame, no acesulfame potassium, and no saccharin. These synthetic sweeteners are found in the majority of diet sodas, zero-sugar energy drinks, and "light" beverages on the market. While they reduce calorie counts, they are lab-created compounds that many health-conscious consumers actively avoid. Sucralose alone is found in thousands of products marketed as healthier alternatives. Tru takes a different approach.
No Artificial Preservatives
Tru contains no sodium benzoate, no potassium sorbate, and no calcium disodium EDTA. These chemical preservatives are standard across the beverage industry because they are cheap and effective at extending shelf life. Tru achieves shelf stability through tunnel pasteurization, a thermal process where every sealed can is gradually heated to 154 degrees Fahrenheit and held for a minimum of 11 minutes to eliminate harmful microorganisms. Heat does the work that chemicals do in other drinks. The result is a preservative-free product with a full commercial shelf life.
No Artificial Flavors
Tru contains no artificial flavors. Every flavor comes from organic fruit juice from concentrate and organic flavors. Many conventional beverages rely on artificial flavors, which are chemically engineered in labs to imitate real ingredients but often lack the depth, quality, and natural integrity of true fruit. These synthetic flavors are widely used because they are cheaper, more shelf stable, and easier to standardize, allowing large companies to cut costs and ensure the same taste every time. We believe there is a better way. By choosing real ingredients, Tru delivers a cleaner, more authentic flavor experience without relying on shortcuts, so you get a beverage that tastes better and aligns with what you actually want to put into your body.
No Artificial Colors
Tru contains no Red 40, no Yellow 5, no Blue 1, and no caramel color. Artificial colors serve one purpose: making a product look more appealing. They add nothing nutritional and are increasingly scrutinized by regulatory bodies around the world. Several artificial dyes commonly used in American beverages are already banned in the European Union. The color of Tru's cans comes from our branding, not from what is inside them. The liquid is clear because it has nothing to hide.
No Added Sugar
Tru contains 1g of sugar per can, all of it naturally occurring from organic apple juice and organic lemon juice. Nothing added. For context, a typical can of soda contains 39g of sugar. A standard energy drink contains 27g. Even many beverages marketed as "healthy" or "better-for-you" contain 8 to 15g of added sugar per serving. Tru's 1g comes entirely from real fruit juice and contributes to the product's clean, natural sweetness alongside organic stevia and organic monk fruit. No cane sugar, no high fructose corn syrup, no agave, no honey. Just what the fruit provides.
