What is Ginger?

Originating in southern China, ginger is utilized globally as a spice. The most commonly used part of the flowering plant is its rhizome, which is located in the root. Ginger root has been utilized as a major component of traditional medicine since as long as 5,000 years ago. Because of its potential health benefits, ginger was a highly traded commodity during the height of the Roman Empire, mostly traded from India. The studies have shown that ginger may be effective if women take between 1 and 1.5 grams daily. In some cases, medical patients in the process of chemotherapy or in post-surgery are given ginger in the hopes to help prevent vomiting. Other potentials benefits of ginger include; improving high blood sugar, general soreness, stomach pain, arthritis, indigestion, and high cholesterol.
